Before you book
Do I need a boating license?
Florida doesn't issue a recreational boating license, so there's no driver's-license-style exam. There is one quick requirement: anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 needs a Boating Safety Education card to operate the boat — most renters grab the 90-day online temporary certificate (about $10) the day before. You'll need to be 21 or older to rent, and every trip starts with a full hands-on orientation at the dock.
I've never driven a boat — is that okay?
Completely. The Monterey 215 SS is an easy, forgiving boat, and your dockside orientation walks you through starting, docking, throttle, and the local no-wake zones before you ever leave the dock. If you were born on or after Jan 1, 1988 you'll just need the Boating Safety Education card (above). Most first-timers are grinning within five minutes.
Is there a deposit?
Yes — a small non-refundable reservation fee (about $50) secures your date when you book, and a $500 security deposit stays on the card you booked with. Nothing extra is charged up front — the deposit is only drawn on if the boat comes back damaged, and you authorize it when you sign the rental agreement. We walk you through all of it at your dockside orientation.
What if the weather turns?
Safety first. If we call it for weather, you reschedule or are refunded in full — no questions.
What's included in the price?
The boat fueled and prepped, your dockside orientation, life jackets and safety gear, the Bluetooth sound system, and a stocked cooler with ice — for up to eight aboard. The price you see is the price you pay; food and drinks are the only things you bring.
